The Village of Andersonville
was an important railroad terminal and
supply point for the Confederate prison located at nearby Camp Sumter.
Andersonville, Georgia is located just
off Georgia Highway 49 between Americus and Oglethorpe and is some 21
miles northeast of Plains. You will want to visit the well known
Drummer Boy Museum there. The Civil War Prison site along with the
National P.O.W. Museum is located less than a mile from Andersonville.
