SAVANNAH, AMERICUS & MONTGOMERY (S.A.M.) RAILROAD

Samuel Hugh Hawkins entrepreneur, lawyer, and banker established a privately owned railroad around 1884  called the Americus, Preston and Lumpkin, renamed Savannah, Americus and Montgomery a few years later.   The Samuel Hugh Hawkins Diary, January - July 1877
